well suposidly theres lots of money in being a car inporter... and suposidly you can start buying cars that people want for around 10-30 grand and you can sell them for 30 grand and up (and they pay for shipping) luckaly i have a very good friend in singapore to help me do this i also have my bro and his friend to help ... what do you guys think about this choice of a job for a 17 year old... (and i thought it would be realy hard i know thers a lot you have to do still licensing equipting so it fits us standards so on.)
what inspiered me is my bro has a friend who has been doing this scence he was 15 and 1 owns a skyline r34 and 2 is buying an island in the bahamas. http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/rant.gif
so meaby this will get me enough money to pay for driving school :P so i can drive my new fancy imported car... (that i hope to get...)

Sounds like a plan! That'd be an awesome, awesome job. And if you're handling just the import part and not the modification to be street legal in the US.
And count me in for a skyline gtr R34 (and an R36 when they're released).
You know... for when I hit the jackpot.
PS: I think the big money is in knowing the ins and outs of the whole process - and if you've got help that'd be great.
PPS: An ISLAND?!?!?

If your serious about it zero, go and do some research into the ins and outs of importing. You'll probably need special licences and plenty of money to start off, but i guess if you find a market then you can fill the demand without to much of a gamble on the initial outlay.
Good luck!

I had friend that looked into this. He specifically wanted to import the Volkswagen Rallye Golf (Syncro (AWD) w/ G60 supercharger) and Passat G60 Syncro. Its difficult to turn a profit after your costs in modifying these cars to comply with us safety and emission standards. He got discouraged.
If I was you, I'd find an importer in your state that you could meet in person and talk about whats involved. Volunteer to help them! You'll learn the "ins and outs" quicker. I'd imagine theres a lot of loop holes in this business. Learn first hand from a professional.

I would say have a long talk with your Brothers friend before you do anything.
Maybe find out if he would be interested in having you as a dealer for the cars he imports in your area untill you get a feel for it and then maybe try it out on your own.
P.S. I hope it's a big island with good roads so he can play in his R34
