I have a blue Chieftec case with a window in the side. I want to paint the inside blue but I want it to look like it was anodized, I want the blue to be somewhat transparent. I think Candy Apple Red is somewhat transparent but do they make a blue paint that will give me the same effect? I have a blue Cold Cathold light and other mods will be clear case feet with blue LEDs and fan mods.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks in advance for your help. You can get candy paints in all kinds of colours.
Most places I know of do transparent paints which actually have better coverage than candy paints but still give you that translucent effect you want. You normally lay down the candy/translucent paint over a coarse metallic base to give you good depth and shimmer, you can't just but the candy onto the bare chassis metal though if thats what you were thinking.

Hey, welcome to the forum.
I understand what you're asking but I've never seen it done well. I've even seen paint designed just for this but the results were medicore even if it didn't peel off.
Maybe someone else could offer you some better advice.

I would consider having it powder coated in one of the absolutely awesome candy colors that are available today.

Didn't know they did powder coating in candies... awwww, this country sucks sometimes, I've not seen it in the UK at all http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/frown.gif
But that'd be more effective and prob' cheaper than the paint equivalent.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes :)
dutchcedar, I didn't really want it powder coated because I didn't want it as dark as the outside.
fillip, where can I buy those candy/translucent paints?

Oi!!, look at our Powdercoat goodness sticky (http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=32)....
The Purple chassis is called Lollipop Purple... Looks just like candy or its been anodized... Purty!
Don't waste your money on the Metalcast paints youre refering to... The nozzles tend to drip paint and the finish chips real easy.. Been there, done that

The only places I have bookmarked are UK suppliers, but you should be able to find them easily with Google, i'm sure there'll be more choice in the US as well. Maybe I should've mentioned that they're paints for professional application with an airgun/airbrush http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/unsure.gif Sorry.
The paint manufacturer I'm thinking of though is US based, so look out for Auto Air Colors if thats what you go for.

If mnpctech's link didn't convince you that powder coating doesn't need to be dark... well...
But in addition to being attractive, its the durability that makes it excellent for a PC... no more paint chips every friggin time you loosen a screw on a drive, etc...
For me... I would leave a case frame bare before trying to spray paint it. Since powder coating BaDassII, that's my new way... at least for the insides. B)
Not that I'm opionated or anything...

I kinda wanted the metal to show through with a tint of blue.
I must admit though powder coating does look good and I hate when I have to touch up paint because it chipped.
i'll look into powder coating, i don't know who does it around here but surely someone does.

Look in your local phone listings under "Metal Finishes"
Hmmm.......don't have any listings for "Metal Finishes".
Update: I found 3 listings in the Huntsville phone book.

The paint would cost you at least $60-$75 plus you need the equipment to do it, and it still doesn't guarantee you'll do a good job of it either.
So all in all it doesn't work out as expensive as you may first think.

Yeah, I guess not. I first got the idea from work, I'm a QC in a machine shop and blue Dykem is used all the time (sometimes red, it depends on the machinist). We have spray and brush and it's the spray that got me thinking about it.

thats a cool idea i think if you want an anodized look you can always well anodize it... there is a few guides around about anodizing and infact i was plaing for the longest time to anodize on of my mods but the mod didnt work out (money issues) so i had to stop and chose to do a diffrent mod.

Check the phonebook under powder coating - that's what I did and I found a place not even 7 blocks from my old house. and I don't even live in a big city (Nittany Powdercoating, Bellefonte, PA)
