None of those. I use maxthon (formerly myie2) which is a shell over ie. It gives me all the nice features of firefox like tabbed browsing, etc and the compatibity of ie. However I do still use firefox for security when I need to surf less than legitmate sites.

IE.
It might be full of holes but Firefox is slow and doesnt work properly with a hell of a lot of sites. It also wont connect to a lot of secure payment sites oh and craps out my profile at work as even though you set a max file size for its caches it just ignores it. If they fixed those bugs i would use it.
Before anyone says IE is not standards compliant well tbh i dont care. :h34r: If web pages work and load quickly i'm happy. Wiht the market share IE has IT IS the standard.

Firfeox, for one because IE isn't standards compliant http://wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/tongue.gif
Sorry, but there's nothing more irritating than designing a website with full CSS caompatibility, seeing it work fine in FF and watching IE crap all over the screen.
If you tweak FF using some simple control hacks it works much faster than stock and i've only run into one or two sites that it wont work with.
But it wins hands down for general browsing, plus it has the benefits of being more secure than IE and a built in pop-up blocker

Firefox is only slow to load, initially. most of us have a web browser open the majority of the time, and even on my puny 1.13GHz P3 laptop, once open, Firefox smokes IE. I open IE to do one thing and one thing only - hit my exchange webmail. Otherwise, google the benchies - FF beats it in layout speed every time.
As far as your profile problem, I was more prone to that happening in Mozilla 1.7 than in FF.
The 'won't connect to secure sites' also seems like an isolated issue - what errors are you getting? whose build are you running? what are the sites?

Couldn't agree more. Firefox kicks arse. I have no probs with secure sites . There's no competiton as far as i'm concerned ^_^

Avant browser at the moment - another IE mask I'm ashamed to say :( I've tried running Firefox and Mozilla before but like others, had problems with secure sites. If bugs like those have been fixed, mebbe I'll try switching back to one of them soon.

I had the first proper release of fire fox and it wouldn't connect to secure payment sites at home or work. It just comes back saying cant connect to then states the URL. Fire up IE and it connects straight away. iirc one of the secure payment places was via www.perfectpad.co.uk (http://www.perfectpad.co.uk).
You can show me all the bench marks you want but imo it was slower on my machine then IE. It just takes longer to find the pages. I have nothing against FF but to me it is not mature enough atm to warrant changing from IE.

Opera for me. I'm used to it and find it much easier to use than Firefox.
Everyone goes on about getting plugins and tweaking Firefox, but Opera comes with all of this stuff installed, and it can take more plugins if you like.
Granted it doesn't work with every website but it loads webpages faster than Firefox and IE IMO.

Firefox is now upto version 1.3 an they've fixed a few security flaws and bugs in the last couple of releases, so maybe those who had a bad experience before should try the latest version and make some tweaksto the config. as shown here - http://www.tweakfactor.com/articles/tweaks/firefoxtweak/4.html

Opera v8 has been released too. Opera 8 (http://www.opera.com). It's a definate improvement on v7.
Some key features with it that might tempt you:
Mouse gestures, tabbed pages, intergrated IRC, e-mail client (although I've never used it), magic wand to save and manage passwords, fill in personal details with one click, saved sessions to open the same tabs as when you closed it before, good pop up blocker, voice control.
Worth a look if you've never tried it B)

Firefox here too.
I like that it runs very well, and that it's updated very quickly; you can't get that from IE. I'm sure that whatever issues plagued users before, are long gone now.
I just had to have a multi-tab browser, for all the surfing I do. I tried an add-on for IE (Crazy Browser), and even though I can reorder the tabs, I still prefer Firefox.

I've not used it on Linux for quite a while but then it seemed fine. Although I was using an old P2 266 so eveything was a little slow.
The banners are annoying but you can now get google text ads, which are great. They don't take up any space except for unused space at the top and they don't distract you at all.

I use firefox and I find it an ok browser but by far not exelent. The thing that turned me away from IE is that my machine would get cloged with ridiculous amounts of spyware and I plainly just got tired of runing spyware removal tools everynite only to have my machine flooded with crap the next day.
now I use firefox and I find it better. As far as the tabed browsing, I find that very anoying as I generaly like to have multiple windows insted of tabs so I turned it off on firefox.
So far the compatibility has been pretty good on firefox but there are still some issues just like every pice of software out there.

What the other Firefox people said. I've never had a problem with secure sites. Can someone who has had a problem give us an example of a secure site that doesn't work? I'd be interested to see what that looks like.
have any of you used the new netscape browser (i know it made by aol... :()
but it alos you to use firefox or internet esplorer rendering engine (firefox by default) but anyways its ok but the interface is way too cluttered for me and i dont think its compatable with linux or other os.
also one coment is its windows update compatable witch means you dont have to use internet explorer to update windows (although technicly you are using internet explorer)

I've been using Opera since Version 6 and only ever have to use IE if I visit the Windows update site (which is never as I have selective Auto Update scheduled)
I've got the full licence for Opera and have to say that it kicks IE's arese all over the shop, tabbed browsing, wand function (remembers all your login n password shiznit) built in Email client (which rocks) voice control, built in download manager...
I didn't like Firefox after using Opera :D

FireFox fo me.
I'd been following it for some time. It's definately my browser of choice.
Having uninstalled IE (like that M$) I ran into problems with Windows update service. It seems you can only connect to the update service via IE (don't like that M$) It is possible but you have to jump through hoops so it went back on. Some none W3 compliant pages relly look bad on FF so having IE to view them as a fall back helps.
Don't you just love it?
With FireFox 1.04, I and others it seems have had troubles with it stalling and bombing. Resulting in task manager kill procces, and deletion of parent.lock files before it will work again. There may be a problen of interopability between Google and FF. Some have found that changing the default search engine to another cures it. Check out Mozillazine for the low down
Firefox for me, with Opera a close second.
Both have semi-indespensable features for me. I love the "Paste & Go" option in Opera's Rt-click menu. ^_^
Discovered a nifty feature in FireFox the other day while I was discussing extensions and such with Steve... that of multiple home pages. :)
Basically, if you have more the one tab open, you get the option of 'Use current page(s)' in your prefs. B)
Not sure if it's only recently introduced or whether it was there all along but cool, all the same.

It's been a feature for the last couple of revisions at least but I didn't realise it allowed you to have multiple homepages.
*toddles off to have a go...*

You can do something similar in Opera. You can have it start exactly where you last had everything when you closed it, or you can save a selection of different tabs and have that open when you start it. It can also be multiple windows as well as tabs.
