Let me know how this sounds...
I just got off the phone explaining my case mod idea to a retailer/modder.
I bought another one of these: http://www.maxpoint.com/products/pccase/spec_pg/cs5190/ (http://www.maxpoint.com/products/pccase/spec_pg/cs5190/)
Since the shops price was $285, I was able to get them to drop it down to $189 (I found another retailer with that price). If I had bought the case direct (form the drop shipper) I would have paid $189 even, but since I decided to have them make some cuts for me, I paid $200 for the case to ship to them, then another $40 for the cuts (dual 120's for a Black Ice Pro 2 and 2 drill holes for the tubing). Since I plan on putting the rad and fans on top of the case (so I don't lose any inside room), I explained myself to him, but he said that my idea wasn't sound. I want the first cut over the PSU bay and the second and drill holes to enter the case form the middle. He said something about how I shouldn't be exhasting hot air from outside into the case, on the premise that when the fans bring the air inside from the rad, all that heat will hurt the airflow. So, I told him that I had my case that way once, but it made everything too hot and he didn't seem to believe me . He seemed to prefer it if I used the fans to blow the hot air from inside the case out the top, and then told me that he didn't want to make the first hole over the PSU bay, because there's too little airflow there. That's not what I want done. I want the first hole up there, so that the end of the rad will more easily rach the tubing from the chipset, and then drop down to my res a bit more easily. Does it matter if air blows onto the top of the power supply?
Secondly, he seemed to think my general idea is going to look ugly, and seemed more concerned with how it could look than what I want done. I don't care how it looks to him, I think it's gonna look neat to put 2 aluminum fans under a thin radiator and then wrap it with modders mesh, all on top of the case.
My question is, if I was paying you to mod something for me, would you disagree with my idea and do your own thing, and still feel you should charge me? I feel sort of bad right now, I don't know if he will agree to do what I want completely, or if he will do his own thing (put the rad cuts in the middle).
