Are the drives still incredibly expensive though?

The size caught my eye. A guy I know (not a friend) had a cousin or something in some IT related company and he would bring boxes of unused parts. Some of the cards and such were long as hell!! Just like that one.

Yeah, so I buy that card, only to find out the drives cost more than selling my liver, kidneys and heart are gonna cost, or not...

Well if you get one and can't afford the drives, you could always use it as a desk!

how would you use that 64bit pci slot every system i have seen dosent have one...

also why scsi dont people say sata is better?

that particular card is usable in a 32-bit slot too.

as far as SATA vs. SCSI, a lot of people trust SCSI because its been reliable for along time, and consider the disks more reliable physically. I cannot confirm or deny this, but I like muh scsi just the same.

Now, from a performance standpoint, SCSI is still better than SATA2 (SATA NCQ) because the processor usage is lower under load due to the additional controller electronics on the drive itself. SATA NCQ removes the ability to say that SATA doesn't suppost Command Queing (meaning that the bus is busy, but commands can still be loaded).

Four SCSI HDD's spinnin' at 15,000 RPM in RAID5... that would float my boat... B)
