View Full Version : Draining my loop?

I've decided I'm going to have to drain my loop and flush it out. The tubes seem to have turned a kind of orange colour, although the water in the res still looks clear.

I'm just trying to wokr out what the easiest way to drain it will be. ATM it looks a bit like this (although this is an old picture, it's the same layout)

I'm thinking it would be better to lean it on one side and take the pump out and the take off the tube on the outlet of the pump. Or else I could may be able to pull it all out as one (but I don't really want to have to do that)

Any thoughts on the best way to go about it?

You have an aqua-tube? If so take the top off and pour out the water, thats what i'm planning. Then disconnect a tube and blow down it to clear out the rest. Mind you my case is smaller and lighter.

When pugs up and running again i'm going to incorporate a drain point.

Yer there's an AT in the top but I was worried that water would just spill all over the case if I take the lid off and try to tip it.

When i drain my loop i move my pump slightly out the edge of my case, put the case on the edge of my desk, have a bowl on my knees and pull the tube. I put my thumb over the end as i pull it out so i could get the tube properly over the bowl. Works OK but im going to have to put in a drain point soon.

When pugs up and running again i'm going to incorporate a drain point. When I take mine apart to move into another case, I've decided to unmount the tube and reverse it back through the case (the hole is big enough, cause it's only held on by the outter 4 screws) and then hold it over a bucket.

The next time however, it gets its own drain from a Plug and Cool T fitting and an Innovatek valve with another straight Plug & Cool and metal stopper inserted. I might pick up the Plug & Cool drain AC offers, it looks much nicer than the other one.

For your computer though, perhaps put the pump inside a bucket, then remove one of the fittings/hose? Hrmm, the rad looks to be in the way. Maybe remove the one part with the most slack and put that into a bucket, and remove the tube? So yeah, your original idea should work fine :)

Hmm, I think I need to put in some more thought. I won't be doing it untill the weekend when I've got some time.

I think I will probably try pulling it all out as much as possible and holding parts over a big bucket.
