It was a rainy day, so a couple buds went with me to Arlen Ness's shop to look around.

Here's a few pics from his collection of more than seventy bikes he had on display. Ness is obviously an artist to the enth degree and quite an engineer and fabricator as well.

I like the blue bike and the black and green bike. Looks like something out of a batman cartoon.

Is he the angry guy on american chopper the series? (the mention of him and his son made me think that)

American hot rod ownz! Bluebear getting sacked was the funniest thing i've seen in a while. That fat guy on american chopper seems a bit of an ass to me. I've only watched it a couple of times but all he does is shout and swear at his son with out appearing to anything himself.

Arlen Ness is a cool, calm and collected kinda guy... been building bikes for about fifty years and its probably unfair to group him with the hacks at Orange County Choppers (tack weld it and send it out to be finished by someone else after throwing a temper tantrum).

The first time I met him... I was just a kid ogling stuff at the Oakland Roadster Show back in the 60's. That burgundy bike with gold trim... I could swear that's one of the bikes he had in that show... but I just ain't sure.

p.s. Blackbear's sacking was a hoot!!! What a dumbarse.

Well on that subject,as a Brit with no knowledge off this scene untill i came across these progs on discovery (along with all of the cool stuff shown here) and having just watched the world Biker build off it was intersting to see the different approaches they all took. personally i was dissappointed the aussie guy (http://www.scottys-choppers.com.au/bikes/discovery/images.html) didn't win the amount of skill and workmanship he put into that bike was incredible - truly a work of art imho

Haven't seen bluebear getting sacked yet - must have missed that  one i'll keep an eye out for a repeat

Its a piece of television not to be missed! Its mixture of ROFL and WTF? He had a dream job and was offered the chance of a life time and blew it in possibly the most spectacular way possible.

Arlen Ness was one of my early (pre-teen) inspirational role-model/idols... while all my mates were getting footie mags & Kerrang, I was getting imported issues of EasyRiders, together with UK mags Back Street Heroes and my bro's old Custom Car stack.

I find a lot of his stuff a little too OTT for me now and again but the guy's a true master of his craft, there's no denying that. B)
