T-balancer is a bit wired and I haven't connected everyrhing yet

So whats the plan? I like the rad fan, very tough to get :)

Well it gets four drives for the raid card tomorrow so I'll be up to six SATA devices, and I'll try and calm the sensor cabling a little. The chaos is mostly caused by http://www.mcubed-tech.com/eng/index.htm but it will have its benefits....

OK morning now  I must have spent about 4+hours fighting with that fellow, just tying up all the wires.... and it still looks like that :(

The T-Balancer has :

6 analog probes - the black wires - two of which are waterprobes in this case (the rest are intake, exhaust, CPU Block, GPU Block)

8 digital probes - small PCBS theres one near the rad fan - of which I've installed three so far. They're chained together on a 4-wire line (SMBus?).

4 fan lines and four sensor-out lines for the mobo. I'll only use two sensor outs as the Mobo is monitoring the PSU fan on its own.

PWRON Line is diverted though the unit so that it can force a shutdown on overheating. Also the two pcbs need to be chained together, and to have power and a molex connection.

On reflection I think there's space for them above the rad, under the drive bays, though I'll need to extract the power button jumper a bit further.

I have one flow-meter (aquaero-type) but I'm not sure about its restrictiveness. My paln is to install it on the testing bypass (all those valves are there for something!) and see how it affects the CPU temp. If there's no impace I can find somewhere more sensible for it, else I'll get on and stump up for a SF800 and stick it on the pump feed line. The unit has two flow meter lines and claims to support any flow meter you like.

I'm determined to get this thing fully funtional asap, though at times I have to wonder why I make it so complicated

 .... Surely most of that can be hidden behind the mobo? You may have to extend the fan cables and remove the mobo, but its got to be worth it .. hasnt it? Would it be possile to extend the sensor cables also if it was needed?

Risky, Im tempted by one of those eventually, but will it link to MBM or speedfan do you know? I see JaLCD can interpret its outputs.

I didn't do a photo of the back of the tray as it was too scary. There are huge amounts of power wring there (you might have noticed the fron tis fairly clean in that regard.

Now that I've worked out when to stick the units, I think I can improve the wiring, but it will take more than a little patience as when the case is fairly full like this, fishing each cable takes that much longer. (And for that matte ryou can spend five minutes just trying to get stuff into the mobo headers), if the cards are in the way

But there are limits of the "shear bulk of cable" type. I suspect my main tool will be dabs of black insulation tape to hold the wires down in place.

I though there was MBM integration, to some extent for T-balancer, though I'm not sure in what direction. I may look to writeing some code of my own to help there. Once its fireed up I'll post up some screenies of how it works.

But its fun being able to pick up daft sense point such as the HS of the Step-up PSU!

EDIT: right-angle clear/silver Belkin SATA cables arrived - very bling :D

I see great potential, especially in that Panaflo  Seriously mate, you need a sleeving kit to tidy it up a bit ;)

It'ss not about sleaving that just makes bigger bundles, routing is the thing, but even then there's not magic wand. Anyway here's the result of another night's work:

oh my thats an eye sore :o

its got potential send it to mine i'll wire it for u, if u pay me ;) lol

edit: u posted before me there its alot better now, get some braid on the go and shud be excellent :)

If I start braiding things, I 'll be sure to need to take them apart immediatly - this box is in a bit of a state of flux.

Maybe a bit of spiral on that fan wire bundle in the middle. the black sensor wires are as good it I can hope for. But do check out the back of the rig (clicky (http://www.veryrisky.co.uk/webimages/newbuild32.jpg)), shows how much is hidden away.

ieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

What's there to be afraid of? disconnect your mobo and your drives and jump the power switch, if it shorts out you'll likely only trip your PSU -- resolve the problem and repeat.

12th February 2005, 03:10
lol, not that scared.

More like I want to sleep without knowing I will need to debug the T-balancer wiring. I was on early morning support so I've had a long day (up 20hrs+)!

Continuity meter and color coding, my brother. I imagine RS/B+Q/Halfords has vinyl (electrical) tape in different colors.

Good luck risky :)

The cables are getting much better, well done :) I think im going to have to get one of those t-balacer doobries and have a go at hiding all the cables. I want to reach into the screen and have a go at yours lol. I have an unusal fetish for tidying wires:unsure:

Dang!

One of the new drives appears to be DOA, I've prided it with different powere and dat cables, no joy and its cables with other drives - A1.

RMA....first DOA drive I've ever had.

DOA is better than dead with your important data on it!

Ok its 22:18 aand I've got a full mug of coffee. Can I rig it working before I fall asleap. Fact that psu is in bits will hardly help!

Risky, what are those shut-off valve connector thingies on the ends of the tubing int the picture?

Did you mean the splitters:

Those tubes may be messy but damn it looks cool! B)

I think Olly meant the red valves which I presume ar for draining the system?

Risky
23rd February 2005, 14:24
Well the PC isn't just a box for holding air......

Yeah I've got a rig at the bottom with three shut off valves and two T-piece pipefittings. The ideadis that you can rig up another block and then open up the values and diver the water through it to test. Also acts a drain point.

There's a better pic somewhere but the structure is (Where T is a T-peice and V is a valve.)

slight catch it that It fouls the case and I can't rotate is as frely as I'd like.

Yeah cheers Risky, I was wondering why you needed more than one valve (guess I could have worded it better :o) ).

Is it just me or is the top left block not fully attached to the chip?

Good spot, but I did fix that after (from the photo). Actually photos are good for spotting oddments like that.

Risky what RAID 5 card are you using? Our video editing PC at work is having 'issues' again and we are considering moving it to RAID 5 for a bit more redundancy.

The only reasonable one i can find is the adaptec at around £200 from Dabs. We have to use dabs as its the only IT e-tailer on our system.

Risky
24th February 2005, 12:16
Yep that's the one I have, but I got it cheap as a B-grade (returned or something) at e-buyer.

£200 is about on the money for a grown-up Raid 5. Anything much less and you might be into software raid 5 which is not a good thing!
