.....................now this radiator has been sunk into the top of the case (picture) am i better having the fans blowing down through the radiator into the case, or drawing air upward and out of the case?
Lastly would there be any value in mounting 3 more fans on the underside to, for example blow up through the rad while the top fans drew the air up and away?
That makes some sort of sense to me but then im not exactly the greatest authority on fan dynamics! LOL
Many thanks for any ideas.

Your either never happy or constantly striving for perfection mark ;) :p
Although i have never tried, push pull configs offer a small advantage, most say its neglidgable. What i would say is that generally its accepted that pulling through the rad is more efficiant as it helps minimise the deadspot. Its going to be different for every situation though.
FWIW my initial thought would be have the fans on the pulling air through the rad as it means the source of noise is slightly insulated by the rad.

......at the moment the fans are nearest the top and extracting out of the case, is that how you would have them?

I would turn the lot upside down ...
----- case
==== rad
++++ fans
Heh, you dont need to pick me up geeze :) Im actually in Bromley next week for a first aid course monday to thursday. Id be happy to come have a look and go for a beer or something :). From the sounds of it though mate, you've got it nailed. Its the minor tweaks that depend on circumstances you seem to be working on at the moment, and the only way to tell whats best is to suck it and see. PM me your telephone number and ill give you a buzz.

That's the conventional best practice, with the fans pulling air through the rad. I'd stick with it as is.

I have my fans mounted just like yours mark with the fans drawing air out of the case. I did it purely so it wouldn't fill my case with dust. :)
Am i right in thinking theres nothing in your case except the watercooling set-up? If thats the case then it probably wont matter which way the fans are going as theres nothing in the case to warm the air up past ambient with the exception of your pump etc.
