Say I have an Aquatube on its side. I run the line in from the raddy to the higher plug and the line to the pump from the lowest plug. If the tube isn't filling as much as I'd like, can I reverse the plugs w/out any problems (low is in and high is out)?
I've been doing the first config for a very long time, but I want more the tube to appear more full. I'd think that the water would just fill up and then everything will run perfectly, but sometimes what I think will happen doesnt happen the way i think it will, although this seems pretty straightforward.

I allways have water out from the lowest connector (stops air bubbles)
To fill I normally half fill the aquatube and then fill the system through the aquainlet on my 1048. Once its up and runnign I just open the aquatube and either add of remove water untill I get the desired level.

this is, imho, why top fill is the only way to go.

Which is a no-no, with an Aquajet... Think it would work if I put a piece of hose on the jet so the water would spray back into the tube? Then just remove it when everything's looking good (after I shut down the system)?

Nope I do it with the pump off.

Ahh, now I see what you're saying. So now I know what to do :). I'll do it sometime.

You need your res outlet underwater at all times (consider turbulence causing the level to fluctuate somewhat). I wouldn't personally reverse 'em.
Note -I find that if I raise the water level too much, I either get inherent water noise (therapeutic to some but I'm now addicted to complete silence) or with a powerful pump, tiny bubbles which can, in extreme cases, be drawn around the loop.

I used to do that with a bit of 10mm hose, now I use an upended dye bottle (or similar).
Works a treat.
