Hi im looking to purchase a shuttle for lan events as i regularly attend wading my huge thermaltake tower and im now sick of it, therefore i want a shuttle.
Im looking for a 64 amd shuttle, preferbly 3400, with 512 ddr pc3200 and a 80 gb harddrive.
WHat do you guys suggest i get for memory and hard drive and most importantly whats the best shuttle or shuttles to get?
help would be much appreciated.

I've got an sn95g5 and its excellent, though be prepared for a few setting up problems with the early versions get a v2 if you can.
Also make sure you get dual channel corsair as 2 single sticks doesnt work if you are going for a gig of ram that is :)

what a v2? and that one is way over priced for what it is, im thinking of getting a Shuttle SN85G4 V3 Socket 754 Aluminium Barebone System, what is the differnce between the 2 apart from the fact 1 is nforce3 *ultra*

I really like the AOpen XC cube's but they don't seem to have an AMD 64 version yet, which is a bit of a shame.
I agree with Gordy that the sn95g5 is a nice bit of kit too.

The one gordy mentioned is socket 939. Thats a big advantage for a start because of dual channel memory controllers on the CPU. FWIW i wouldnt even bother looking at 754 anymore.

You might want to cosider mATX systems as well unless it absolutely has to be the smallest. The Antec Aria (http://www.antec.com/ec/productDetails.php?ProdID=08130) would give you a lot more flexibility in the future.

The main difference as said above is that the sn95g4 is socket 939 I would avoid the s754 as they are on their way out already imho. The s939 is the way to go at the moment.
The cases are quite different the sn85 has the older g4 style case which personally I dont like at all. The sn95 case is the best shuttle case so far :)

One :( - http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=305577
I tend to use intel CPUs so I assumed there'd be plenty. Alas on dealtime:
mATX motherboards:
Intel
Socket 370 (2)
Socket 423 (1)
Socket 478 (60)
Socket LGA775 (25)
AMD:
Socket 754 (9)
Socket 939 (1)
Socket A (33)
lol!

One thing to consider though (at least for the immediate future) is that AMDs don't get near the boost off of dual-channell memory like Intel does.....yet.
That being said, Socket 939 is more future proof for sure.

I know that was true with regards to XP systems but i thought that now the controllers are onboard the 64bit processors memory bandwidth is much better. Does it still fall behind intel?
