Hiya When cutting the hole for the aqua tube what size should it be?
Will a 80mm Hole Saw do the job or should a 76mm be more suited.
Cheers

IIRC it's somewhere between 76-80mm diameter. I think I cut an 80mm hole when I cut my case for it. If you are using a mounting plate it doesn't need to be the most exact hole as the plate will cover it up.

You'll find that a lot of holesaws sold as 80mm are actually 76mm. Is it not something daft like 81mm or 82mm?

It's true, i have found a 79mm however.

80mm will suffice but the beauty of the mounting plate is that it does allow a degree of margin for error.
Didn't you get the version in the packaging with a template included?

My Aquatube hole is nasty looking. I took the mounting plate and traced it onto the tape I had on the case, and then I used my jigsaw to cut the hole. I sort of stopped paying attention to the circle and it turned into an egg shape. So, instead of needing to drill the holes for the tube into the case, I cut them all out and left the 4 outter holes, so I would just have to mount the tube to the bracket and the bracket to the case. I screwed that up too, somehow, so I took everything apart and figured out where it wasn't fitting and nibbled the excess case top away. Everything is peachy now, and the bracket is pretty darn near straight.
I'm going to do the same thing again for the top of another case, but this time I'm going to take the time to measure and hopefully mount the tube to the case with the 5 holes for the tube (for extra security).
If all the "terminology" I used is confusing, I'm not sure how to simplify it. Sometimes when I think of something in my head it's not as clear as I think. Nevermind

That is the ONLY thing that saved me from the mess that lies on top of the case now.

If i remember correctly (old age setting in :( ) you needed an 80mm hole...but the AT mounting plate holes were for a 92mm fan

Well I have a Fass-o-matic, not an At, and the holes are just a bit wider than for a 92mm fan - I heard that the AT plate was the same.

So if i was going to fit a aquatube in the top of my case would u suggest i had it fitted more to the front of the case top becuase of hte PSU?
Or would it be find sitting dead center?

Well, it more or less depends on where you want it. Too far back will make it stuffy in the PSU area, but too far forward and you'll lose one or two 5.25 drive bays. If you know you're going to lose one or two 5.25 bays, you could just buy the Aquabay to hold the Aquatube horizontally in two 5.25 bays.

Well I have mine dead centre because I wanted the drive bays and I think it looks better there. There shouldn't be a problem with the PSU although depending on which way round you mount it you might not be able to get full access to the connectors.

Here's an old picture of my fass-o-matic (similar dimesions to Aquatube) sitting between the PSU and the Opticals.

This is in a (vintage?) Globalwin-802 which isn't exactly a big case

Also, take a look in the case gallery for a thread by Thowi. He's got his AC stuff inside a PC6X but still has room for all of his drives with an Aquatube in there. I'm thinking of downgrading to the LL PC6077, that way the Aquatube inside an Aquabay could go on the bottom, the double rad on top would block the top 5.25 bays, but since the case has 9 it's not a big deal.

Got a quick picture of my case with my phone.

That's an aquatube dead centre of the case. There's plenty of space for the connectors underneath but I would probably need to use right angle pushfits to use the side connectors.
There's also plenty of space between the AT and the PSU, so no worries about leaking or blocking ventilation.

I put my rad in the center of my PC60 for air flow and the aquatube at the front.

Not immediately to hand... I'll snap some when there's a better light to do so.
I still need to set up a mini-studio again to get some good pics.
Congrats on 500 posts btw.
