Anyone who wetsands alot might be interested in this product being released by 4 star. Here is some info on it.

I am pleased to announce the release of the first product in Four Star's new Body Shop Line, Four Star AEG (Abrasive Enhancing Gel).

This totally unique, patented formula is designed to address a very real issue in the automotive OEM, body shop and aftermarket industry. I have invented a product that will make any brand of wet sandpaper perform better, abrade the surface in a more uniform manner and last much longer than if water is used while wet sanding. Another benefit of Four Star AEG (Abrasive Enhancing Gel) is that the employee work area remains much safer by eliminating the pooling of water on the floor, this is a common occurrence in many body shops, auto detailing shops and even on automobile manufacturer assembly lines during the wet sanding process.

For those that may not be familiar with the art of wet sanding, I would like to explain a little more about this process and why using water to wet sand is a disadvantage. Traditionally, the process of wet sanding surfaces has required the use of water. Due to the free flowing characteristics of water, work areas where wet sanding is performed tend to be messy and inherently dangerous to the technician. Water also gets on the technician. In addition, during the wet sanding process, water does not remain evenly distributed across the surface being sanded. This scenario may result in uneven sanding marks.

The free flowing characteristics of water further prevent it from significantly reducing the friction between the surface that is being sanded and the abrasives that are being used for sanding it. This results in premature wear of the sandpaper being used. Furthermore, water shortens the life of sandpapers being used in the wet sanding process when their adhesive backings become excessively saturated. This causes premature adhesive failure and seperation of the sanding element from its carrier backing.

Another potential problem in any sanding process is that the heat generated by friction when the abrasive material comes into contact with the surface to be sanded. The increase in surface temperature so generated softens painted surfaces and can result in the creation of deep scratches. When compared to using water, Four Star AEG (Abrasive Enhancing Gel) decreases the temperature of the surface being sanded by as much as 8 percent, while increasing the uniformity of the wet sandpaper abrasion. The end result is a smoother and clearer surface with much less buffing required to remove sanding marks.

Four Star AEG (Abrasive Enhancing Gel) has been independently tested and approved for use in body shop environments. This formula does not create or promote the formation of "fish eyes".

This product is truely "one of a kind". There is no sanding composition known that has the same features and components as Four Star AEG (Abrasive Enhancing Gel), nor all of its advantages.

Sincerely,

Rick Vaal
President, Four Star Products, Inc.

I think members would much rather have heard your personal experience with the product instead of their sales pitch :)

Because that stuff is supposed to act as a lubricant, not as an abrasive. ^_^

I know it sounds kinda silly. Recently i have taken up auto detailing as a hobbie, and 4 star makes some of the better products out there.

Anyways, premiumautocare.com will be selling it.

I will most likely stick to using water though,(if i ever get off my butt and do something again) but who knows, it might be cool
