I posted a similiar thread to this over at Bit-tech but didn't get any really helpful responses.
I wanted to know, (question for those in the UK) if anyone knows of a good supplier/s for materials such as sheet aluminium or copper blocks, and things like 3-5mm perspex? I could prob get hold of the perspex if neede but i have no idea where i would go for the metals.
I don't wanna buy in bulk becos i can't afford to/ have no use for/ can't store it, so does anybody have any exp with a store who could help? As i said, i only need small amounts, so i guess they would cut-to-size orders or something or even just off cuts and waste they might sell on.
thanks

Hmm, if you were in the US, it'd be easy - Onlinemetals.com (http://www.onlinemetals.com/)
I'm not sure if they ship to the UK (or if we have an equivalent) but the site's worth a quick visit, even if it's just to read the FAQ. :D
[Edit]I found one but I don't know about minimum orders Advent Research Materials (http://www.advent-rm.com/default.asp?countryid=14)

There's a chain of metal stockists in the UK called Metal Supermarkets. I've used the one in Gateshead, and they will supply small quantities of sheet metal, metal bar and tubing, cut to size.
I'd be interested in any suppliers of perspex in the NE though .....

Haha, this is a thread form just after I joined the forum, so it's probably not really needed, but thanks for the response. :thumb:

If you can locate a Glass wall fabricator the may have cut offs of all different alum you can buy for scrap value. I have piles of 600mm x 600mm anodized panels from spandrel fabricators. Cost was free

Yeah, when I first joined here and BT I signed all my posts that way, but it just got annoying when I was posting 20+ times a day.
I was wondering if anyone was gonna pick up on that actually. :thumb:

Lately my catalog of choice for toilet reading has been http://www.smallparts.com/ - not sure if they do business outside of the US though.
