Hi all I have some EL wire that I want to add to my case and I was thinking about putting it on the front bezel of the case but I want to add an on/off switch so that I can control when its on! Can anyone tell me what type of switch I would need and where I would add it? Thanks in advance!

well a standard on off swich would work for that just try ot avoid momentary swiches like those used as the power button for your system as those will casue the el wire to flicker on and turn back off when the button is pushed.

So something like this http://www.xoxide.com/rocker.html would work then? I have a broken cathode that has an on/off switch button like this(without the neon of course) so getting that wouldnt be a problem. But what wires have to be attached to it? Guess since I have to solder stuff I'll have to buy some heatshrink tubing! Hmm guess that will have to wait till a while after the wedding as I have little money to spare at the moment.
Unless there is a generous modder out there who wouldnt mind sharing?

Wow thanks but I have the switch I just need some heat shrink to cover any wires that I have to solder.
I have a broken cathode that I was going to take the switch from but I still have no idea where I add it to the EL wire. I'm not great with electronics so I have no clue where to add it!
This is the reason why I love this forum, because people here are friendly and always willing to help or donate!:D

Well the heatshrink issue has been resolved! Apparently Home Depot sells heat shrink tubing and I actually had enough money in my pocket to buy some! Now if I just find out where I have to add the switch to the EL wire I would be set!!:D

I would add it on the ground to the inverter if it were me :)
