Hello

I am new to the case modding field and had a question or 2 that I hope that someone could answer.

I have an idea but i need to know if it is very hard to cut small patterns in the plastic bezel. The cut must go all the way through the plastic so that light can come through. Some of the patterns are wavey but also have tight corners. What type of tool would I use that would not melt the plastic?

Also I seen that modders mesh and was wondering if anyone has tried to put a skin onto it and cut the holes out. I can not afford to have someone airbrush.

Thank you for your help.

A jeweler's saw would work very well for this, or a proper table-mounted jig saw (not a handheld reciprocating saw) with a jewler's blade. Jewler's baldes cut on all sides (it looks like a twisted spiral of a blade).

As a matter of interest has anyone used a spiral saw? I've seen them in hardware shops but never seen anyone in a project log use them.

A scroll saw would be ideal though it sounds like thats what star was described

Ive used a RotoZip which is a spiral saw in essence. It can be hard to get straight lines (even with a guide) but its excellent for organically shaped pieces. It works well with plastic IME and leaves an ok finish to teh cuts just needing some finishing off with a file or sanding block to get properly flat...

i just looked for some pics of my res mount during its fabrication but dont seem to have a pic of the finish that the rotozip leaves, sorry.
